Detached House, Longdown, Devon

The clients wanted to build a very well insulated home so chose a 235mm frame to give a U value of 0.15W/m2K.
The joist platform was formed using engineered timber I joists with Weyroc Protect decking boards. Attic trusses were used in the roof structure to allow for rooms in the roof at a future date. All the roof areas were sarked using OSB3 boards which meant the roof structure did not require internal bracing. The office has a feature oak ridge beam with fully vaulted ceilings. Oak posts and beams were also used in the carport construction. The house and garage block were erected in two weeks.
“For our self-build project we wanted a very strong, well-insulated timber frame. Nick and Alistair at All Timber Frames gave us helpful advice to achieve just that, whilst keeping within our budget. We were kept informed on progress at all times during fabrication, and the frame was delivered on time. We are extremely pleased with the end result – the high quality of workmanship has even been commented on by other tradesmen. There was a friendly atmosphere at the factory when we visited and Nick and the team obviously take pride in their work; we would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to build a timber frame house.”
