Barn Conversion – Tedburn St.Mary

Posted by / in Our Timber Buildings /

For this barn conversion, the clients, for whom we had previously built a house, purchased a cob and stone barn to convert into their retirement home.

All Timber Frames supplied a 140mm closed panel system to line the existing walls, with 89mm internal partitions. The 140mm system was chosen so as not to lose too much internal living space.

The joist platform was formed using open metal webbed joists, which made the fitting of the heat recovery ventilation system easier. The joist platform decking boards were T&G plywood. The cut roof structure had a Glu-lam ridge beam and loose rafters to give maximum headroom in the upstairs bedrooms. The roof was sarked using OSB3 boards.

Passive House, Silverton, Devon

Posted by / in Our Timber Buildings /

All Timber Frames supplied Chris, the owner of a green building products business, with the timber frame for his Passive House.

With this frame the sheathing boards were fixed to the inside face of the external wall panels and so also acted as the internal vapour control layer. The insulation was then fitted from the outside. Please visit www.backtoearth.com for further photos, videos and a blog on the build, as well as information on green building products.

“All Timber Frames were chosen to supply and erect the timber frame for our project because of their open mindedness and willingness to try new techniques, which catered for our build type. The frames where delivered on schedule, on cost and erected to a high standard which was vital to achieve Passive House.”
