Seven Houses, Bristol

Posted by / in Projects Portfolio /

A development of seven straw bale houses in Bristol, consisting of a terrace of four and a terrace of three. The three-bed accommodation is spread over three floors and the top floor includes the master bedroom with vaulted ceilings and a large feature dormer structure.

This is the latest project working with Modcell; their last housing development in Bristol received nationwide media attention, and all the properties were sold prior to completion. Bristol, with its green credentials, loves straw bale housing!

Detached Bungalow – Tintagel

Posted by / in Projects Portfolio /

We supplied our clients in Treknow, Tintagel with a 140mm closed panel system that features two new specification options; fully insulated internal wall panels (in addition to the externals) boarded on both sides of the stud work, as well as the inclusion of Photon 33 as the internal membrane.

Photon 33 allows us to create a 140mm panel with a U-value of 0.17.

Merryfield Eco House, Somerset

Posted by / in Projects Portfolio /

Merryfield Eco House has the feel of a North American home; designed with two large verandas and timber weather boarding, it is very much the brain child of the client who was responsible for the design and method of construction…

Merryfield has a timber suspended ground floor, with the floor platform sitting on a series of Douglas Fir beams. The beams are fixed to a large number of Douglas Fir posts that are positioned on compacted stone ‘piles’, meaning that there is no concrete in the foundations.

The frame supplied was a 235mm open panel system and the client will be carrying out most of the finishing works himself, indeed he helped with the erection of the frame.
