Last  month we finally received the great news that planning permission has been granted for our new manufacturing facility. This will give us an additional 200 plus square metres of floor space which in turn will allow us to double our production. New enquiries and orders have been very good with our fully closed panels being particularly favoured by clients who appreciate the benefits of being that much further advanced on site by having more of the fabrication carried out in our factory.

We have in the last month taken on a new apprentice, strengthening our ties with the further education college in Tiverton, as well as two other experienced timber frame makers.

The upcoming projects are in Staverton near Totnes, Sidmouth, Abergavenny, Aylesbeare near Exeter and Mount Hawke in Cornwall. All of the frames are going to be closed panel systems varying from 140mm to 235mm frames. Should anyone wish to visit any of these sites, or our factory, they would be most welcome, give us a ring to make the arrangements.

On a more general note there has been much media debate on the health of the construction industry. We have certainly seen a marked increase in business and all the merchants we use have reported an upturn in trade. The one draw back is that we have also witnessed lead times growing for some of the products we use. Another barometer of activity was the recent Self Build Show at Westpoint in Exeter, visitor numbers were far higher this year compared to recent years. Confidence has definitely returned to the market, lets hope this is not another false dawn.
